SPANISH HORSES

This site is designed to make buying a Spanish horse as easy and enjoyable for you as possible. I have been living in Spain since 1987 and have formed a highly skilled team of breeders, veterinarians, trainers, and the best shipping agents in Spain. I can help you find whatever you are looking for.

With one phone call you can take care of every step involved in the complicated process of buying a Spanish horse. This includes the travel arrangements for you to come to Spain, tours of the top breeding farms in Spain, paper work and blood tests, and the most complicated of all-- delivery of the horse to your farm.

We also offer courses about the Spanish Horse by Juan Llamas, Spain's foremost judge and expert on the Spanish Horse. You can purchase his books on line as well as mine. Or you can arrange to just come and ride in a Romeria or the Marcha de Guadalupe It is a 3 day pilgrimage across Spain just before Columbus day.

You can stay at La Bodega del Herrador a family run inn located in the heart of Spanish Horse Country. They raise their own beef and make all their own sausages and cheese that has made country side of Extremadura famous from the time of the conquistadors until now. The Bodega is nestled in the little town of Monroy near a castle built by the family of Hernan Cortes who conquered Mexico.

Step 1. Coming to Spain
Come to Granada to buy your horse or guitar and experience the wonders of this ancient city that has fascinated travelers for centuries. You can book a room at Casa Lisa, a guitarist's hostal in the heart of Granada.

Ana Fernandez, Director and flamenco dance teacher, manages Casa Lisa. The school has individual dance classes, guitar lessons and language lessons. She fits the classes into your schedule as it is all individual or semi private. She can arrange for tours for you in and around Granada. You can see live flamenco in the caves or just wonder around the city enjoying wine and tapas. The possibilities are endless. Contact Ana or me and we can take care of your travel plans for you.       Lisa@lisadegranada.com         anaflamenco74@hotmail.com

Step 2: Visiting Horse Farms to Select a Horse
Spain is blessed with some of the best horse farms in the world which have centuries of experience in breeding and training horses. I will personally accompany you to the best breeding farms throughout Spain and help you find a horse. With my years of experience, I know which breeders are the most reliable and trustworthy and can also help you identify the best horse for your needs.
La Ciervina, a farm located near Caceres, Spain is noted for the stock being "Cerrado en Bocado", which means they trace their origins back to the pure Terry line. The owner, Ramon Jimenez personally shows all his own horses. In 1999 his cobra (3 mares of equal stature and build) won first prize at the shows in conformation and movement (Salamanca, Zaragoza, Talavera and Piedrahita). In 1999, Ramon won "The Best Breeder of Spain Award"!!

Nobleza de la Guardiana is a farm in the fertile fields of the region Badajoz, in the west of Spain. Joaquin Conesa, the owner of Nobleza de la Guardiana, bred the champion stallion Indiano XVIII who was imported to Mexico then California. My own colt Romantico comes from this farm.

El Pedrazo, owned by the Flores family. The horses from Agricola Andalucia La Alta Finca ed Pedroso in Andujar Jaen are raised on an olive farm. Every Spring after the olives are harvested Damian and Julian start breaking the young colts. Until then they run free in the mountain range. The result is large strong animals.

Las Lumbreras owned by Jacobo Delgado in Seville that has produced the majority of the foundation stock of the finest breeding farms in Spain.

El Duende in Aranjuez who are known for their Cartujana horses.

Las Flores in Jaen, Andalucia who have recently exported horses to all parts of the United States.

Another highlight of your trip will be a tour of a training stable (La Espuela) in Granada and seeing how the horses are trained in Alta Escuela and Doma Vaquera. You will also be able to personally ride highly trained Doma Vaquera horses.

These horses were sold and shipped to China by Lisa and Germ

Step 3:  Delivering Horses
After you have selected a horse, I have developed a highly efficient process for delivering the horses to your home. This includes arranging all the veterinary checks using laboratories in the United States, completing all paperwork, and transporting by air to any location in the world.

We work with Global Horse Transport in the US as well as IRT in England. We have sent horses even as far a Australia. Wherever you are we will help get your horse there.

Who thought buying a Spanish horse could be so easy! With one email or phone call, everything can be taken care of for you from beginning to end. I have spent years learning, researching and developing this business, and now you can benefit from all of my hard work. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
